Gyalwa Dokhampa Rinpoche
His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa Jigme Pema Nyinjadh, more popularly known as Kyabje Khamtrul Rinpoche was born in 1981 at Darjeeling, into the family of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa, who is his root Guru. He was recognized by H.H. Dalai Lama, H.H. Gyalwang Drukpa and His Eminence the First Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche.
His basic studies were done at Druk Thupten Sangag Choeling Monastery in Darjeeling.
He spent most of his childhood and boyhood under the guidance of his root Guru, His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa. One of his other main Guru was the venerable Omze Sherab, disciple of Trulshik Pema Chogyel, a great Drukpa yogi who had given teachings to the 11th Gyalwang Drukpa. Later he studied and completed a 9-year course to attain his Master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Tango Monastic University.
His Eminence also teaches worldwide where he brings a young and vibrant viewpoint to traditional Buddhist teachings. Like His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, His Eminence emphasizes that Buddhism is not a religion, but rather a way of life to finding happiness. He also works to make Buddhist ideals relevant to a modern lifestyle and emphasizes that Buddhist principles can and should be integrated into everyday life, through making a difference to others.
